Mission - Pilgrimage

Would you like to make a pilgrimage? Would you like to join the multitude of pilgrims all over the world who set out on a journey that they hope will bring them ever closer to the Lord, his Blessed Mother or a beloved Saint.

Pilgrimage has always been popular in the Philippines. It takes many forms. Now many families are choosing a church to visit. They travel long distances to honour the Saint or the Virgin or her Son.

There are chosen places to visit, churches whose names are familiar to practising Catholics, like that of Manaog, Antipolo, Santo Nino de Cebu and of course, Baclaran, the largest of them all.

In recent years there has been a great emphasis given to fulfilling our religious duties in groups or in common.

A pilgrimage is something that one is free to carry out individually or in a group.

Many choose to go away to a quiet place and rest a while and make personal contact with the Lord or his Mother.

Jesus himself followed both paths. He frequently took journeys with his disciples. He ate and drank with them. But there were times when he would leave his disciples and go to a lonely, far off place and there commune with

God his father.

Here in Baclaran we offer you both forms of pilgrimage. The world famous novena devotion is a massive outpouring of grace involving hundreds and thousands of people.

There are others who choose to follow Jesus and spend time with Him in silence, or with his mother.

Would you like to take a pilgrimage here at the National Shrine?
